CHAPTER 15

Gerald stopped studying around two o’clock in the morning. He was trying to make a real effort getting through the next few weeks without any more drawbacks. It never bothered him he was such a mediocre student, but he knew everyone would be watching him and most of them wanted to see him fail – especially Slink...Troy…or whatever the fuck his name is. In his wildest dreams, he could’ve never imagined just how much Slink hated him and Marcus so much he would set them both up for armed robbery. Where did all that hate come from and why was it directed at him and Marcus?

When Gerald and Marcus met with their attorney, Ricky Carter, just before Monday’s arraignment, they learned for the first time about the real Slink. How he was twenty-eight years old and wanted for questioning in the murder of two men in Jackson, Mississippi. Gerald was stunned, but Marcus was pissed. Gerald had never seen that look of rage on his best friend’s face before. He was sure that Marcus was gonna blame him for everything that went down and would never forgive him. Especially with Marcus telling him all along how Slink was bad news. Gerald could only wonder if setting them up was Slink’s intention all along. Once again, he proved to be the gullible fool while Marcus’ sharp perception remained intact.
